Nyx seeks to develop the means to create useful automatons by using deceased creatures, enhanced with sparkcraft and operated by a sparkcraft brain. These are considered complex and require multiple stages and specific materials to create.
Required Research
- Electroplasmic Organic Tissue Sustainer - a small pump charged with an electroplasm concoction that is pumped like blood through organic tissues, preventing decay.
- 12-segment clock, requires a small supply of electroplasm to experiment with, along with a dead creature for each downtime activity spent researching
- Sparkcraft Tissue Interface - the necessary technology to interface sparkcraft limbs and joints with organic tissue to make them work together seamlessly.
- 8-segment clock
- This technology exists but is closely guarded by a select few Sparkwrights. It could be stolen.
- Obtained by theft rather than research. Nyx took The Kilgrave Clockwork Hand and the notes on its flesh interface out of the cellar workshop beneath Lord Kilgrave’s Manor on 18 February, 848 IE, closing the project outright. She has been working over it with Mistress Ash since. Session 16
- Clockwork Mind Mk1 - a sparkcraft brain that can follow specific pre-programmed instructions, engage with organic sensory organs, and drive an organic body.
- 8-segment clock
- Clockwork Mind Mk2 - as above, but can follow verbal commands with some limited adaptability
- 8-segment clock
- This technology exists and could be adapted once the Mk1 mind is invented. It is closely guarded by a select few Sparkwrights and could be stolen.
- Clockwork Mind Mk3 - as above, but can function with the capacity of a highly-trained animal
- 8-segment clock
- Clockwork Mind Mk4 - as above, but can effectively simulate human consciousness. Is it alive?
- 12-segment clock
To Craft
- Sustained Body - Tier 4 - requires a source of electroplasm and a suitable corpse
- Optional: Body enhancements, structural repairs as needed - Tier 2-4
- Clockwork Mind:
- Mk1 - Tier 3
- Mk2 - Tier 4
- Mk3 - Tier 5
- Mk4 - Tier 7
- Alternately: Soul Vessel to house a spirit - Tier 7 (Arcane)
- Optional: Hull Features - Tier 6 - any reasonable Hull features could be applied to the automaton
