The IBI crew has witnessed (presumably) artificial gravitic distortions being used to interdict craft in a dive. These distortions are very similar to those witnessed by Aiden Harlan in Solace and which inspired the work at the SAR (and later BioGen) labs with Dr. Lee.
Perhaps related, Grove was historically the home to thought leadership in gravity research and housed many of the most advanced facilities and minds on the subject, even through the Unification War and occupation.
