Breaking news from WDF CENTCOM today as Fleet Admiral Komiko Halsey has been ordered to step down by The Council. In a statement penned by the Vickers-Maxim Seat For Defense, Halsey has been accused of gross dereliction of duty, her tenure marked by the disastrous incident involving the WDF Dauntless that brought the Reach to the brink of war with Jericho, not to mention the theft of nearly thirty percent of the WDF capital fleet by the insurrection. Sources close to The Council have suggested that criminal charges are being considered for the long-embattled Halsey.
In related news, the Phoenix Propulsion Labs Seat for Shipbuilding has announced that timelines for WDF Damocles have been shortened as a result of the attacks of September 23rd. The Damocles project continues to be criticized by the Republic of Jericho and numerous organizations friendly with the separatists as an irresponsible and dangerous weapon of control. The Navy’s next-generation dreadnought is scheduled to enter service mid-year.

As the storm builds, Tomoe feels the disruption very strongly, perceiving the disturbance of the gate opening and the network of arnite woven through the planet itself enabling it. The crew confirms with Calliope in orbit that the storm is the result of a gravimetric distortion similar to the one created when they arrived back from Jericho.
With Aiden looking on raptly, Tomoe experiments with some arnite gravel she’d taken to carrying. The arnite formed itself into the same fractal pattern she sensed under the surface, rippling slightly as waves came off of the gate’s location twenty kilometers away. Tomoe attempts to consciously will the armite to shift, and after quite a bit of unsuccessful attempts, curses in frustration and manages to make the material move.
After ensuring the town and their marines were secure, the crew eventually beds down to wait out the storm.
They are woken by the sounds of gunfire. Marines barracked on the other side of town report engaging in a firefight in the storm. They spot a vehicle heading towards Northwind’s water management facility - which manages not only fresh water for the town, but also coolant for the reactor and a number of other industrial purposes for the tritium mine. The crew gears up and heads out into the storm.
They find a troop transport belonging to AEX law enforcement in Curtis Landing outside the water treatment plant. Dirk relocates the vehicle to prevent an escape and the crew enters the facility. They engage in a fierce firefight with AEX corporate security personnel and thwart an attempt to inject a neurotoxin into the town’s freshwater filters.
