It's that time again, let's do this: On the media front, it was a lot of "pretty okay". I really enjoyed seeing Foundation and Silo come to life on screen, the D&D movie was better than it had any right to be, and GoG 3 and No Way Home were uncharacteristically poignant. Watched a bunch of other Marvel shovel-ware at the gym that I really could've done without. The clear stand-out though was Severance, which had me jumping up and down literally screaming at the finale. Brilliant show. As books go, a heavy non-fiction year due to work. Multipliers by Wiseman was the clear winner here - it changed, almost overnight, how I view and behave as a Leader. It's a must-read for anyone who gets into Leadership over a capability that they're functionally excellent in. On the fiction front, a lot of "pretty okay" as well. The Tchaikovsky "Lords of Uncreation" was a great cap to an excellent trilogy and I enjoyed the world-building immensely. For video games, I hit a few epics this year. Wrath of the Righteous was good, but I was pretty tired of it by the end. There was just way too much of it without there being much to keep me engaged. Jedi Survivor was excellent. And then there's Baldur's Gate 3. It’s easily, far and away, the best crpg ever made, and a contender for best video game of all time. The love that went into every corner of that experience is palpable, the amount of choice is staggering, there’s more dialogue than Game of Thrones, it’s got the best voice acting and mocap in the history of the medium, and it never stops being fun. An absolute masterwork. # Books ![[2023-Books]] # Movies & TV ![[2023-Media]] # Games ![[2023-Games]]
